How Can severe Muscle Cramps In The Legs Be Treated?
I am having sever muscle cramps in my legs. I am wondering if this could be caused by an infection? About a month ago my ankle was cut open and required medical treatment. The walk in clinic I visited glued it closed, gave me a tetanus shot, and prescribed me antibiotics. The area of the wounded isn t painful or swollen, but it doesn t seem to be heal completely either.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Muscle cramps what you have been experiencing could be due to the following: 1. Lactic acid accumulation. 2. Electrolyte imbalance. 3. Calcium deficiency. Kindly take oral rehydration solution (ORS) along with plenty of fluids. You can take medication containing Ibuprofen with Chloroxazone (analgesic with muscle relaxant) after food. Supplement with calcium rich foods regularly. Gradually, you should be able to overcome the problem. Hope the information provided would be helpful. Get well soon and wish you good health. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S. MBBS., MD.
